FIRST (Facilitated Information Resource Skills Training) is a blended learning approach to teaching Information Skills to teach you how to search effectively and efficiently, and locate relevant information in a specific resource.
• You can do this course from any location, office or home, as long as you have access to a PC.
• The courses use email, the internet and MSWord to deliver the training
• Tasks are emailed once a week by your facilitator, who will also provide support and feedback
• You can complete your portfolio over the space of six weeks – this should take roughly 3 hours in total
To register, complete the online application form online via the Training pages on the library website.

There are three courses on offer:

Literature searching on CINAHL. CINAHL contains primarily nursing, midwifery and AHP information
Literature searching on MEDLINE. MEDLINE has more medical/surgical and general health care content (although it also contains information on nursing, midwifery and AHP topics).
