Dementia Awareness Week, 3rd - 10th June 2007

Dementia Awareness Week runs from 3rd to 10th June. The Library has compiled a list of books on care and treatment of dementia and alzheimers disease, which can be found here. For more information about the week, see the Alzheimer Scotland website, and the WellScotland website.

Clinical governance reports published

NHS Quality Improvement Scotland have published Clinical Governance & Risk Management local reports for various health boards in Scotland, including NHSGGC. The report refers to a visit from a peer review panel in September 2006 to assess the clinical governance and risk management performance in the local organisation against the national standards.

iMHIP monthly e-newsletter published.

The May 07 e-newsletter from the Improving Mental Health Information Programme (iMHIP) is now available on their website. Amonst other things it has news on the progress of QIS accreditation of Integrated Care Pathways in Mental Health and some guidance documents on nutrition, seclusion and the Adults wih Incapacity Act issued by the Mental Welfare Commission.

Mind Book of the Year shortlist

The mental health charity Mind has announced the shortlist for the 26th Mind Book of the Year Award. The annual award celebrates writing that contributes to public understanding of mental health issues. The subject matter of the shortlisted books ranges from candid real-life accounts of living with mental health problems to explorations of how the human mind works in the modern world. The winner will be announced on on Wednesday 16 May.
