New study on effectiveness of antidepressants

In a study analysing data from clinical trials of antidepressants, leading psychologists found that antidepressants have no clinically significant effects in all cases apart from a small group of the most severely depressed patients. The study has just been published in the Public Library of Science Medical Journal (PLoS Medicine).

Ovid SP to be launched.

A reminder that Ovid SP is set to be launched on 4th February. This will mean that the databases provided by Ovid on the NHS Scotland e-Library will look slightly different and have added features. The databases in question include Medline, PsycINFO, Embase and Ovid's provision of the Cochrane Library databases. A short guide on the changes and a fuller Powerpoint presentation are available from the Maria Henderson Library page on the NHSGGC Libraries website. As always, NHSGGC staff and library members can ask library staff for advice on the new version of Ovid or on any aspect of literature searching.
