Community mental health bulletin, October 2007

The latest issue of the Maria Henderson Library's Community Mental Health Bulletin has been issued. It contains publications and journal articles on community mental health teams, primary care mental health, assertive outreach, social inclusion, social support, and information on recent publications in Scotland and the UK.

New issue of Community Nursing Bulletin

Narrative research report released

To coincide with Mental Health Week the Scottish Recovery Network have released the findings of their narrative research report. The project used the experience of 67 people across Scotland to highlight factors that helped and hindered their recovery from long-term mental health problems. The final document is entitled "Recovering mental health in Scotland : report on narrative investigation of mental health recovery" and is available online or in the Maria Henderson Library.

Mental Health Week runs from 8th – 14th October 2007.

WellScotland are using Mental Health Week to encourage people to think about attitudes and behaviour towards mental health and what mental health and wellbeing means. A special edition of the Well magazine has been published and there are various events and activities publicised in the Mental Health Week News pages.

In addition to Mental Health Week the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival runs from 4 - 19th October. The line-up includes films, concerts, literature events, theatre, debates, exhibitions and comedy.

Drug misuse and dependence : guidelines for clinical management 2007

The National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse (NTA) on behalf of the Department of Health, the Scottish Government and other devolved administrations has published an updated version of Drug Misuse and Dependence – UK Guidelines for Clinical Management (28/9/07). This is a new version of the 1999 Clinical Guidelines, commonly called the ‘Orange Book’. The new Clinical Guidelines build on the previous evidence-based and well-established Clinical Guidelines but reflect some of the considerable changes that have occurred in drug treatment over the past eight years. The latest Clinical Guidelines also reflects the recent suite of guidance from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
